Tullett Prebon becomes category 2 LME member and forms new base metals desk

London, New York, Singapore 20 December, 2010: Tullett Prebon, one of the world’s leading inter-dealer brokers (IDB), has been approved as a Category 2 member of The London Metal Exchange (‘LME’), the world's premier non-ferrous metals market.

Tullett Prebon has formed a new base metals desk which will commence broking LME contracts in January 2011. The desk is headed by joint desk managers Mark Sedgwick and Steve Walter, metal traders with over 34 years of combined industry experience, latterly with MF Global.

The desk will be supported by Paul Oke, a former metals broker with MF Global for over 10 years, and Anna Stablum, most recently the LME reporter at Bloomberg News.

Andrew Polydor, Global Head of Energy and Commodities at Tullett Prebon, commented: “The establishment of a base metals trading desk is an important step in the development of our energy and commodities division, leveraging Tullett Prebon’s advanced hybrid global platform. Our highly experienced team will operate with an impartial, non propriety trading policy providing clients with liquidity, quality execution and Tullett Prebon’s first-class service in this rapidly expanding asset class.”
